Calls for Submissions For Writers
The Binge-Watching Cure II, an anthology of horror from Claren Books, wants terrifying short stories that fall clearly into the genre camp. No literary fiction, no experimental styles, nothing that puts words before plot and character.
Stories from 100 to 25,000 words will be considered, but must fall within specific ranges. See all acceptable word counts here. Claren Books will pay $200 for works under 5,000 words and $500 for works longer than 5,000 words. Deadline is September 30.
From the publisher:
We want to see your most terrifying prose. We’re interested in the full range of horror fiction genres and topics: dark fantasy, vampires, zombies, werewolves, Cthulhu Mythos, pure horror, psychological horror, ghost stories, East European myths, kind fairies gone rogue, Japanese monsters, apocalyptic horror, gothic, and plain scary monsters. If your imagination can conjure it, we want to read it.
This blog is queer-friendly. I strive to ensure that all submission calls I post are open to works with queer/LGBTQIA characters and themes. I do this by checking the publisher's back catalog, submissions policies,or business practices, or by communicating with the publisher directly.
Please contact the publisher through the links in the post if you have questions about a submission call. Contact me if you've had a bad experience with a publisher featured here.
