Call for Submissions: Anthology for Trans / Non-binary Survivors of Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault

Last Chance Today to Submit Best Gay Stories – Lethe Press

Today is your last chance to submit to these two best-of anthologies from Lethe Press. Queer Sci Fi’s Annual Flash Fiction Contest—Deadline April 10

I'm involved in Queer Sci Fi, an organization supporting the creation of speculative fiction by and about queer/QUILTBAG people. Each year, QSF holds a contest asking writers to "do the nearly-impossible – to submit a sci fi, fantasy, paranormal or horror LGBTIQA story that has no more than 300 words." But you're a writer. You've been doing the nearly impossible for years, concocting worlds, people, and emotions out of nothing but words. So I'm sure you can come up with something for this year's QSF flash fiction contest. There's no...

Here's the call: We will be creating an anthology titled Utter Fabrication: Historical Accounts of Unusual Buildings and Structures. It will be a collection of fictional stories about haunted houses and other weird places. For this anthology, our pay will be 2¢/word. An author’s experiment with PayHip

Earlier this week, I tested out PayHip, an online platform for selling digital downloads, as a venue for selling some of my ebooks. It was all about timing—I had a newsletter scheduled to go out but was still waiting for one of my new titles to go live on Amazon, even though was already on Apple iBooks. I could either wait to send out the newsletter, or I could take the matter into my own hands and make the title available in Kindle format outside of Amazon. So I decided...

Samhain is closing … again

It's been a crazy two months, hasn't it? Torquere, All Romance, and now Samhain closes. I'd been rooting for them to keep things going after they revamped last year. As a writer, the frustrating thing is not knowing what percentage of these closings are due to poor business acumen, and what are due to Amazon's hold on the indy romance market. Sigh.

Call for Submissions: Wet Summer Nights

Summers can often be hot and volatile, with everyone looking for a way to cool down or release the heat. Strong personalities collide and rivals clash when heat waves hit all time highs. The suits have no idea how good they have it in their air-conditioning and fancy offices. Of course, the working grunts outside have perfected the art of cooling down. So what if they’re from the opposite side of town. Sparks will fly on wet summer nights. What we’re looking for: We’re looking for stories with a strong...
